Re-circulating Toilet Deodorants

There are some really effective re-circulating toilet chemicals and deodorants on the market but how many of these that are labelled "ecologically safe" or "approved by KOA" that you are comfortable with when it comes time to emptying into a state or provincial park dump-out station with stringent anti chemical rules? None for me! Except of course for a good bacterial agent like "eco-save".

How about brewing your own non-toxic deoderant? Here is my recipe and I hope others will submit theirs:

  • One whole Lemon (cubed)
  • One to two cups of Mint leaves (grows like a weed in our garden)
  • Two tablespoon Cloves
  • One cup Water

Bring to a boil and cook for only a minute. Allow cooling and macerate with a food processor. Pour into a plastic container with a squeeze spout like the one used for dish detergent. Use a little after each use of the toilet by squeezing out just below the bowl rim all-around. Make small quantities (one cup liquid) at first of different aromatic spices and herbs and label the containers. When you find a recipe that works best come back and share it with us.

Try other aromatic herbs and seeds. Don't use things like pine oil that can break down the rubber seals between the tanks and valves or kill the good aerobic bacteria that's working diligently to break down the waste.
