I was born and grew up in Alaska and have been on the Alaska (formerly Al-Can) Highway 5 times. Of course, the last time I was on it I was 12 years old, so I was a little more concerned that one of my brothers or sisters was touching me than I was with appreciating the view.
My Dad and I have been talking about doing this trip for a number of years, he really wants to do it before he gets too old for that long of a trip. I really want to do it now that I'm sort of all grown up and can appreciate it.
So...off we go, we're leaving Vancouver WA on April 24, 2005. We're planning on 5 or 6 days to drive to Anchorage so we can spend time doing side trips and checking stuff out, we'll spend three or four days there, then 4 days heading back. It's about 2500 miles each way, that's 48 hours of behind the wheel at 60mph average. We'll be towing a 19' Terry TT with a 2004 Nissan Titan. I'll see if I can find some pix of our trailer to post for you to see.
There's other camping photo albums (among others) at our photo site at http://photos.dnjhome.com Enjoy!
